Terms of Use
Effective: July 12, 2026
What these terms cover
By messaging Pell on WhatsApp or Instagram, you agree to these terms. If you do not agree, do not use the service.
What Pell does
Pell is a task-specific memory assistant that works through WhatsApp and Instagram. You send it things you want to remember (text, voice notes, photos, reels, links, documents) and it saves the extracted content. When you ask for something back, Pell retrieves the relevant note verbatim.
Pell is not a general-purpose AI assistant. It does not answer arbitrary questions, provide advice, browse the internet, or perform actions outside of saving and retrieving your notes.
Eligibility
You must be at least 16 years old to use Pell. By using the service, you confirm you meet this requirement.
Your data
You own the content you send to Pell. We store extracted text derived from your messages (transcripts from voice notes, descriptions from images, text from documents). We do not claim ownership of your content.
For full details on how we handle your data, see our Privacy Policy.
Acceptable use
You agree not to:
- Use Pell for illegal purposes or to store illegal content.
- Attempt to reverse-engineer, exploit, or abuse the service.
- Use automated scripts or bots to interact with Pell.
- Impersonate others or use someone else's account.
- Store content that infringes on the rights of others.
Third-party services
Pell relies on the following third-party services:
- WhatsApp & Instagram (Meta): the messaging platforms through which you interact with Pell. Your use of these platforms is governed by their respective terms of service ( WhatsApp, Instagram).
- OpenAI: processes your messages for classification, transcription, and image understanding. We have a signed Data Processing Agreement with OpenAI. They do not train on your data.
Service availability
Pell is provided "as is" without warranty. We do not guarantee uninterrupted service, error-free operation, or that all content will be perfectly preserved. While we aim for high reliability, service may be temporarily unavailable due to maintenance, updates, or circumstances beyond our control.
Limitation of liability
To the maximum extent permitted by law, Pell and its operators are not liable for any indirect, incidental, or consequential damages arising from your use of the service. This includes loss of data, loss of business, or any damages resulting from service interruptions.
Pell is a convenience tool for personal note-keeping. Do not rely on it as your sole storage for critical information.
Termination
You can stop using Pell at any time by simply not messaging it. To delete your data, email hi@pellbot.com. Self-serve deletion from the user dashboard is coming soon.
We may suspend or terminate your access if you violate these terms or if continued service is not feasible. We will make reasonable efforts to notify you before termination.
Changes to these terms
We may update these terms. If we make material changes, we will notify you via chat. Continued use after notification constitutes acceptance.
Governing law
These terms are governed by the laws applicable in the jurisdiction where we operate. Any disputes will be resolved through good-faith negotiation before formal proceedings.
